Target Information

Bovine Galectin 8 is encoded by the LGALS8 gene in cattle. Galectin 8 is a tandem repeat type galectin with two carbohydrate recognition domains connected by a linker peptide. It is secreted by a variety of cell types and is found in high concentrations extracellularly. It can function as an extracellular matrix protein when immobilized, and induce cell adhesion upon binding to CD44 and a subset of integrins.
