Target Information
Inositol-tetrakisphosphate 1-kinase is an enzyme that phosphorylates inositol tetrakisphosphate (IP4) to generate inositol pentakisphosphate (IP5), a signaling molecule involved in various cellular processes, including vesicle trafficking and cytoskeletal regulation. It is found in the cytoplasm and endoplasmic reticulum of cells. It is encoded by the bovine gene ITPK1. It catalyzes the rate-limiting step in the formation of higher phosphorylated forms of inositol in mammalian cells.
