Target Information
Bovine High Mobility Group Nucleosome Binding Domain 1 is encoded by the HMGN1 gene in cattle. It is a member of the chromosomal HMG protein family which have ability to facilitate gene transcription via binding and modifying specific structures of DNA or chromatin. HMGN1 binds to nucleosomal DNA and is associated with transcriptionally active chromatin. Along with a similar protein called HMG17, HMGN1 may help maintain an open chromatin configuration around transcribable genes.
