Specifications
Target Information
Glutamate decarboxylase 1 (GAD67), also known as glutamic acid decarboxylase 1 (brain, 67kD), is an enzyme that catalyzes the decarboxylation of glutamate to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Bovine Glutamate Decarboxylase 1 is encoded by the GAD1 gene in cattle. It catalyzes synthesis of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) in the brain, and GAD1 is the rate-limiting enzyme.
