Target Information

Bovine Fibroblast Growth Factor 5 is encoded by the FGF5 gene in cattle. As a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) superfamily, it has the ability to inhibit the activation and proliferation of hair papillae and effectively inhibit hair growth and development. FGF proteins interact with a family of specific tyrosine kinase receptors. This interaction is often regulated by proteoglycans or extracellular binding protein cofactors. FGF5 is produced in the outer root sheath of hair follicles and perifollicular macrophages.
