FABP5, also known as Fatty Acid Binding Protein 5 or epidermal fatty acid binding protein, is a protein-coding gene. FABP5 is found in epidermal cells and was initially identified as being upregulated in psoriasis tissue. Bovine Fatty Acid-Binding Protein, Epidermal is encoded by the FABP5 gene in cattle. It has been identified as a critical regulator of methionine- and estrogen-induced SREBP-1c gene expression in bovine mammary epithelial cells.
