Target Information

Prothrombin, also known as factor II, is a plasma protein produced by the liver. It plays a crucial role in the blood clotting process. Various clotting factors, including prothrombin, work together to form a blood clot. Prothrombin is converted into thrombin, which then transforms fibrinogen into fibrin, leading to clot formation. Bovine Prothrombin is encoded by the F2 gene in cattle. It is a 72-kDa vitamin K-dependent glycoprotein synthesized in the liver.
