Target Information

Bovine Dopamine Receptor D2 is encoded by the DRD2 gene in cattle. As a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR), it stimulates adenylyl cyclase and activates cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinases. D2 receptors regulate various cellular processes, including: cell proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, and many other processes. A SNP of this gene was previously found to be correlated with serum prolactin concentrations in cattle.
