Target Information
Bovine Endoribonuclease Dicer is encoded by the DICER1 gene in cattle. As an RNAse III enzyme, DICER1 is a key factor for the production of microRNAs involved in post-transcriptional gene silencing. Dicer is responsible for the processing of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) molecules into short RNA fragments known as small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) or microRNAs (miRNAs). These small RNA molecules serve as guides that can bind to complementary sequences within target RNA molecules. By doing so, they regulate gene expression by either blocking translation or causing mRNA degradation.
