Specifications
Target Information
Bovine D-Dopachrome Decarboxylase is encoded by the DDT gene in cattle. The systematic name for this enzyme class is D-dopachrome carboxy-lyase (5,6-dihydroxyindole-forming). It belongs to the family of lyases, specifically the carboxy-lyases, which cleave carbon-carbon bonds. This enzyme's activity is related to the conversion of D-dopachrome, a product of the melanin biosynthesis pathway, into 5,6-dihydroxyindole, which is essential for melanin production. DDT is a novel proinflammatory mediator of astrocytes following SCI.
