Steroid 21-Hydroxylase (CYP21A2), which is also known as 21-hydroxylase, is an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of adrenal gland hormones such as aldosterone and cortisol. 21-hydroxylase catalyzes the oxidation of steroids at the C21 position on the molecule. Bovine Steroid 21-Hydroxylase is encoded by the CYP21 gene in cattle. This gene is involved in the synthesis of steroid hormones.
