Target Information

Bovine Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit 3 is encoded by the COX3 gene in cattle. COX3 is a transmembrane subunit of cytochrome c oxidase, which is part of the respiratory chain. It plays a crucial role in oxidative phosphorylation, the process that generates adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in the mitochondria. It was one of the genes that were statistically differentially expressed in skeletal muscle of high and low residual feed intake heifers.
