Target Information
Bovine Collagen type X alpha 1 chain is encoded by the COL10A1 gene in cattle. It is a short-chain collagen expressed by hypertrophic chondrocytes during endochondral ossification. Collagen type X has a short triple helical collagen domain flanked by the N-terminal NC2 and the C-terminal NC1 domains. As a specific marker of hypertrophic chondrocytes, COL10A1 is critical for endochondral bone formation, and mutations and altered expression of COL10A1 are often associated with abnormal chondrocyte hypertrophy in many skeletal diseases.
