ATP synthase subunit delta, mitochondrial is a component of the F1 complex in mitochondrial ATP synthase, the enzyme responsible for ATP generation through oxidative phosphorylation. It helps conduct protons across the inner mitochondrial membrane, contributing to the electrochemical gradient that drives ATP synthesis. It is encoded by the bovine ATP5D gene. The majority of ATP is produced by mitochondrial ATP synthase, which consists of two regions and a total of eight subunits, including the mitochondrial ATP synthase δ subunit.
