Target Information
Bovine Atrial Natriuretic Peptide (ANP), encoded by the ANP gene in cattle, serves as an anti-permeability factor. It achieves this by inhibiting the signaling functions of vascular permeability factor, thereby maintaining the integrity of endothelial cell tight junctions. Interestingly, ANP is synthesized and secreted by cardiac muscle cells within the atrial walls of the heart. These cells house volume receptors, which respond to atrial stretching caused by increased blood volume.
