Target Information

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 4 family member A1 (ALDH4A1), which is also known as Delta-1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate dehydrogenase, mitochondrial, is an enzyme encoded by the ALDH4A1 gene in cattle. ALDH4A1 is a mitochondrial matrix NAD-dependent dehydrogenase. It catalyzes the second step of the proline degradation pathway. Specifically, it converts pyrroline-5-carboxylate (P5C) to glutamate. It belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family. ALDH4A1 deficiency leads to hyperprolinemia.

Target/Biomarker Bovine ALDH4A1
Target Synonym aldehyde dehydrogenase 4 family member A1; delta-1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate dehydrogenase, mitochondrial; L-glutamate gamma-semialdehyde dehydrogenase; P5C dehydrogenase; aldehyde dehydrogenase family 4 member A1
