Target Information
Lactic acid is an organic acid that is widely distributed in animal tissues and is used in the biosynthesis of proteins. Lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) due to the presence of a hydroxyl group adjacent to the carboxyl group. Lactic acid is produced in both artificial synthesis and natural sources. It can lower the GIT pH, thus creating a hostile environment for resident pathogenic bacteria.
