Target Information
Iridovirus, classified under the genus Ranavirus within the family Iridoviridae, exhibits icosahedral symmetry with a diameter ranging from 120 to 200 nm. Recently, it has been discovered that iridoviruses can infect both lower vertebrates and invertebrates, resulting in significant economic losses in aquaculture. The Chinese giant salamander iridovirus (GSIV) is responsible for iridovirosis in the Chinese giant salamander (Andrias davidianus), causing severe infectious disease and considerable economic damage.
