Aeromonas species are gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic rod-shaped bacteria with a single, polar flagellum, belonging to the family Aeromonadaceae. Aeromonas caviae is a Gram-negative bacterium within the Aeromonas genus, isolated from outbreaks in guinea pigs.
