Target Information

Actinomycosis is a prevalent condition in weaned calves, young bulls, and heifers. Belonging to the Actinomycetia class of bacteria, the Actinomyces genus consists of Gram-positive, facultatively anaerobic species that thrive in anaerobic environments. Although individual bacteria are rod-shaped, Actinomyces colonies develop fungus-like branched networks of hyphae and may form endospores.
